You can see jump ranges with laden or unlanden states etc. Don't buy ships or modules without trying out different combinations in ED Shipyard first.
When you have chosen your favourite ship and outfitting module configuration, you can search stations that are selling ships and modules from EDDB very easily, no more flying around galaxy searching for high tech stations.
